Modern IG units comprise an outer layer with low emissivity and an inner float that is clear. The space between them is filled with air or an inert gas, such as argon or krypton. The inert gas slows down the transfer of heat which helps keep your house warmer.

You can also add extra security to your windows by having polycarbonate glass that is made of containment installed in a portion or all of the panes. This material is very strong and can withstand an enormous amount of force. It is able to stop bullets that would shatter other types glazing.
