A Ton Of Fun, But Does It Have Lasting Appeal?
Maybe this has happened to you. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout isn't just a great battle royale game, it reminded me of why I love video games. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now on Steam and the PlayStation Store for $19.99. The game is rated E. With the depressing state of the world right now, the jolly bliss fun from Fall Guys is what we all need.
Although I didn't necessarily mind playing the same events over and over again, you'll start to get a bit too familiar with course layouts which makes them feel a bit easy and that is compounded after you learn some tricks that make them even easier.
The game needs some kind of local multiplayer, whether that's against AI opponents or just two-to-four people on a single system playing online. In one case, you play a simple memory game to avoid platforms that will disappear. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is ranked #1312 out of 1578 total reviewed games.
While Perfect Match is the only game I think should be removed entirely from Fall Guys, there are others minigames that aren't very good. But this isn't a walk in the park; each of the game's stages is a chaotic showdown that requires you to interact with the environment, and other players.
As previously mentioned, you are a simple living jelly bean, as you play against a large group of players. It is basically a junk food game for me. You can play it in spurts but you may be tired of it in long periods of time. The games are so much fun, both addicting enough to keep you hooked for hours while also short enough to fit into small gaming sessions.
There's no denying it's one of the most accessible battle royale games out there; even if you're not a fan of competitive multiplayer, Fall Guys is easy to jump into and get a kick out of. But it's a kick that is more than likely short-lived. Overall, this is a perfect introduction into online video games for a child, and a blast to play for all ages.
Even though the game's developer, Mediatonic employs about 230 people, they are split between other projects the studio is working on. So you could consider Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout to be a smaller scale Indie game. Exactly the sort of fun, colourful, and purposefully silly multiplayer game the world needs right now, even if it's not exactly the most polished video game of the year.
